I do not know what is the mechanism working on its background which can reduce file size to such extent but there is no other simplest way of shrinking PDF file size especially when the size of file is increased because of the excessive images.

Method # 2:

Another easiest way to compress the size of your PDF file without affecting its quality is using a free online tool known as SmallPDF.com. This is an efficient online tool with a very clear interface which does not offer any spammy ads or overwhelming pop-ups.

Method # 4:

In case you are a Mac user, there is a simple way of reducing the PDF file size significantly using OS X PDF Filter. It is basically a built-in preview app which can efficiently compress the PDF file without making any loss to the file.

All you need to do is to select the desired file and open with the default PDF reader. Once the file is opened, you need to click on the File tab and select Export from its drop-down menu.

Choosing the export option will open a new dialogue box having multiple fields. The only field you are concerned with is ‘Quartz Filter’. This field has a drop down menu having different option from which you will need to set this field to ‘Reduce File Size’.

Now simply ‘Save’ the file and the size of that particular file will be reduced. With this method, you can reduce the file size up to 80% which is quite significant.

Method # 5:

In case you are using a premium version of Adobe Acrobat Reader, than you will be able to reduce the size of your desired PDF file directly through it. In paid version of Adobe Acrobat Reader, there is a built-in option of reducing the file size.

All you need to do is to open the desired file, select ‘File’ tab and go to ‘Save As’ option. When you will take your mouse to ‘Save As’ option, it will open a menu having different options. In that list, there is an option of ‘Reduced Size PDF’.

While saving the file, you will need to set the compatibility of file by choosing the version of Adobe Acrobat Reader. However, make sure to set the version which is currently installed on your system. Else, the size will be reduced but you will not be able to open that file in your computer.
