One of the most critical decisions that one has to take for his website is the selection of the best hosting provider. Most of the people look for the cheaper hosting without analyzing the other important factors of the hosting provider. Consequently, they have to face troubles in the end.

Choosing a best web hosting provider is not an easy task. You will have to consider many things to see which one suit you best. It is because hosting is something that you cannot change frequently. In order to help you out, I am sharing a list of things that is must to consider before electing a good service for your website.

1.    Consider What You Want:

The first and most important thing that you will have to consider before picking a hosting provider for your website is to think about the nature of your website. Do you want to make it a blog to share your experiences and keep it updating as your personal diary? Do you want to make it a social platform or data sharing website? Or you want to create it for your business?

If you are willing to make it a blog, you can choose a free web hosting because a simple blog does not require a huge amount of bandwidth due to less traffic. Also, it does not require the space because you would not be uploading or sharing heavy files on it. However, if you are planning to make it a social platform, data sharing site or an official site of your business, you will have to select a paid, premium quality web hosting.

2.     Don’t Take “Unlimited Bandwidth” and “Unlimited Space” Thing Seriously:

If you are picking up a paid hosting then the first thing that you will have to look at very carefully is the bandwidth and space that the provider is going to provide you. Most of the web hosting providers claims that they will give you unlimited bandwidth and space at a very low price. But when you start consuming it excessively, you suddenly get a mail that you have “exceeded” the “unlimited bandwidth” or “unlimited disk space”.

It may seem a joke to you. However, it is not. The meaning of unlimited term is limited here. Therefore, you will have to look and ask, from the customer support desk, the amount of bandwidth and disk space that you will get with the package you are selecting.

3.    Responsive Technical Support:

Another thing that you will have to look at is the prompt and responsive technical support. Do you really think that the banner, you may have seen, of 24/7 customer support is something that every hosting provider will facilitate you?

If you think it, then you must think again. It is something that most of the hosting provider will not facilitate you. You will have to make sure that the technical support staff must be there on weekends and holidays. It is because you cannot predict the incidents and troubles that you may face with the hosting in future.

4.    Secure Server (SSL):

One of the important things that you must pay attention to, if your website is an e-commerce site, is the availability of the secure server usually known as SSL. It is for the security of your website and the hosting provider will mail you if he observes any irregular activity on your site. The difference can be observed in the domain address. The domain having SSL certificate will have “https://” instead of http:// before it.

5.    Complete Access To C-panel:

Last thing that you must make sure is the complete access to the control panel, also known as C-panel. It is observed that most of the hosting provider does not give the full access to the control panel, if you are taking a shared hosting.

Lacking of complete access to the control panel may disable you to add, delete, edit or manage data, email accounts, traffic log and multiple domains. Also, you would not be able to change passwords of your account. As a result of it, you will have to ask the technical support staff to make changes on your behalf.
